In this blog post I will be revising my past blog which you can visit here at Blog Post #5. It is a scene where I describe how my usual shifts go at my job at staples. It involves annoyingly obnoxious customers and a lot of heavy lifting.
As I walk into work I see Kathy in her white long sleeve shirt as usual ringing customers out and Dave going as slow as ever to make new tags for old product that is going on the clearance rack. After I clock myself in and grab an old, beat up radio I head to the back to put my personal belongings away. On my way to the back I cut through our furniture pad where I saw Darlene standing there, angry as ever. Our entire store in undergoing remodeling at the moment, which includes new carpeting. With that being said, our furniture pas is a complete mess and there is product scattered everywhere. She was trying to assist a couple in getting a desk but they seemed to be giving her problems. As I was approaching the situation, I saw Darlene get angrier by the second, it looked like her head was going to explode. This was on a Monday which meant load just came in and our warehouse was looking packed as ever. Hundreds of boxes stacked on top of each other stood along the left wall and on the opposite side was paper spilling everywhere. Our store only had one left of that specific desk the couple was looking for which meant it was going to be extremely hard find, so I headed to the warehouse with Darlene to help her find this desk. After moving 2 pallets that was stacked to the ceiling with product and was as heavy as ever, we made our way to the corner where we keep all of our desks. We had to move three other desks out of the way that was just as heavy as the pallets and go under our bright red metal shelves to finally get to the back where we found that one specific desk for this couple. I ran over and grabbed an old, rusty u-boat to put the desk on so we could wheel it out to the customers. After five minutes of struggling and sweating, Darlene and I finally picked up the desk and moved in onto the u-boat. As soon as I was about to wheel the desk out of the warehouse and upfront so Kathy could ring them out, Dave goes over the radio and says “Hey guys never mind on that desk, they changed their minds. They are getting a chair instead”. In that moment, I could not stop laughing. I just sat for a moment to catch my breath before putting everything back the way it was. But Darlene? She threw the desk off the u-boat throwing her legs in the air, kicking and screaming. Which initially was the first thing I wanted to do, but I kept myself together unlike her. In this blog post I am going to rewrite The Yellow Wall-Paper (Charlotte Perkins Stetson), so instead of her secretly writing behind her husbands back and destroying the wallpaper, she will get caught writing in the beginning which will change everything. I also will be writing about a scene where someone in my life made a decision that had a negative impact in my life.
John went off to work like usual, leaving me alone with just my thoughts. John doesn’t believe there is quite anything wrong with me. He says it is all in my head, and I must rest to get better but oh am I tired of resting. We moved to this rustic house for a while so our house can finish being redone and it is just horrible. There is nothing for me do, I can only stay upstairs and focus on my “rest” but all I can truly think about is how horrid this yellow wallpaper is in our nursery. It is a faded, unclean yellow with patterns that are curve shaped going insane. There is John now, I must go. He hates having me write a word. I believe John is starting to get suspicious of you. He caught a glimpse of me hiding you away and but he seemed to have brushed it off, almost like he was even too tired to comment on you. Either way, all is good now. I did mention to him about having me stay downstairs so I don’t have to look at that god awful wallpaper anymore but John was not having it, like I said he just seemed too tired for anything. Oh I hope my John is okay! Nevertheless, I must go downstairs and get away from this outrageous wallpaper! I can not stop looking at it, trying to study how--- Oh diary how i've missed you so. I apologize for cutting out so rudely like that a couple weeks ago, John walked right in as I was writing! He hasn’t been tired at all actually, just the opposite! That was an act this whole time. He says he knew I was up to no good and he needed to get to the bottom of it. As he snuck upstairs and into our room where I was writing, he swung the door open, screaming at me. “I knew this is what you were doing! What did I tell you about writing? You need to get better and this is not going to help you one bit! Give me that now!” but I wouldn’t dare do that. What so he can read what I have been journaling? Or worse, throw you away? I refused! John has now locked in my room for good, not only was I unable to explore the whole house but now I can’t even see all of upstairs. Just my big, empty room with huge windows teasing me. John has also ordered that starting tomorrow our nanny, Jennie, will have to stay “close” to me while I am in here to make sure I am behaving well. So this is goodbye, for awhile at least. For this blog post, I am going to describe the action scene in Bullet in the Brain by Tobias Wolff where Anders experience his last moments in a bank. After that I will then describe a scene from my own life where I came to a near death experience driving home.
Anders headed out to his bank, in his normal droopy mood. It was close to closing time for the bank so the line was extremely long, moving as slow as possible. There were two women in front of him, enjoying a loud and as Anders would say, “obnoxious” conversation. As if the long line and obnoxious conversation didn't annoy Anders enough, one of the tellers closed down her line and headed to the back of the bank to pass time with another co-worker, causing the line to go even slower. The two women who stood in front of Anders started having snarky comments such as, “One of those little human touches that keep us coming back for more.” Anders grinned, then began to chime into the conversation with little remarks like “Damned unfair” and “Unforgivable” to stir up the women. He did not receive much of a response like he was expecting, instead they both just stared blankly passed him and into something much more important. Then he began to notice everyone quieting and staring behind him, so he turned as well. There stood two large men in black ski masks, wearing blue business suits. They both had a gun, and was man handling the security guard, threatening to injury him if the tellers and customers did not behave as expected. As the two robbers began talking, Anders had a cocky remark to almost every comment that was made. And as Anders exclaimed more comments, the angrier the robber got which grew his temper higher and higher. It took a gun being shoved into Anders gut for him to calm down, and keep his comments to himself. And even then he would burst with laughter, making fun of the robber. This lead to the robber shooting Anders directly in the head. And as Anders lived his last moments alive, he did not remember any big events that happened in his life. No, all he could remember was a field, in which he played baseball. Specifically where he met his friends cousin, who talked improper. It was a sticky, hot day on September 13th, as I was driving home from school. It was about noon time so I had my windows up and the ac pumping. I was listening to music, louder than usual because the ac in my car can be loud at times. I was driving down providence road, about to pass through a busy intersection with cars basically piled on top of each other. My light was green and has been green for a steady minute or so and just as I was about to cross, a huge truck with the word “POLICE” turned on his extremely bright red, blue, and white lights at the last second to drive through because he did not feel like waiting for the light to turn green for him. I saw him at the very last second, racing towards me and my first reaction was to slam on my breaks. As I was halting to a stop the white van behind me almost slammed into me, trying to stop as well. After the cop caused a huge traffic jam almost leading to serious damages and injuries, he sped through the intersection, shutting off his lights and continuing the normal speed limit after passing the huge mess he almost caused for nothing. In this blog post I am going to describe a scene to you from my present. In this scene I was babysitting for one of my good friends, Bre, a couple weeks ago on saturday, August 11th. Her son is a little over 1 years old and his name is Ellis. Before I start the scene let me give you a little background information. I met Bre at the daycare I work at and she was moving into a new apartment that weekend and asked if I was free to babysit. They were keeping Ellis at her parents house in Media, which i've never been to so it took me a minute to actually find the house. As I walked up to the front door I turned to my right and saw a cute, little red furniture set that looked like it was right out of pinterest. It consisted of two metal chairs and a tiny metal table right in the middle. After I walked into their house there was a powder room to my right and the kitchen to my left. I walked straight and hit the living room which was where Ellis and his poppop were. The living room was long and on one end had a huge flat screen tv, 60 inches to be exact. And on the opposite side has a huge, black wrap around couch and at the end of that couch was a napper for Ellis. That is where they both were, cuddling up at the end of the couch watching Sesame Street. At this point it was 11:40 am and Ellis's nap time is 12 so he was falling asleep by the time I got there. After I took Ellis, Bre’s dad got up, grabbed his key and left to go meet Bre at the new apartment to help unpack. Ellis was upset at this point about h8is poppop leaving and it took me a couple minutes to calm him down. I saw this red fire truck on the floor and grabbed it quickly. I was flipping it around trying to find the sound switch to calm Ellis down and after a couple seconds I found it located on the bottom. We played with that for a couple minutes just to calm him down then I laid him in his napper for nap time. After I finally got Ellis to fall asleep I sat back down on the couch to watch some tv. Right next to where I was sitting, which was at the end of the couch, there was a huge bookcase filled with decorative plants and pictures from Bre;s parents wedding. It was really beautiful and in my opinion completed the whole room. After 2 and a half hours I woke Ellis up so he wouldn’t sleep too late and grabbed his lunch. It was in the fridge, packed into a orange plastic lunch container. There was ripped up pepperoni and ham, cubed cheese, and diced pineapple. He ate it like there was no tomorrow! Shortly after that Ellis’s grandparents came back home and I left. Hi, here are the answers to my Proust Questionnaire. Although most answers are short, they are straight to the point.
